Here is their report from their recent event:

“The 10th Annual BACHAO Benefit Event was a resounding success. The Keynote speaker was Valerie Taylor, the founder and Director of the Center for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP) headquartered in Savar Bangladesh. Sumaiya and I had the pleasure of hosting her at our house during her stay. She is unique and has dedicated her life to the paralyzed in Bangladesh. The Center treats them, rehabilitates them and in many cases provides employment for them. She is raising awareness. BACHAO (www.bacahohelp.org) is proud to have partnered with her on several projects including providing funding for opening up a new center in Rajshahi, in northwestern Bangladesh. The other speaker was Troy Anderson, founding director of Speak Up for the Poor, an organization in Khulna District in Bangladesh whose primary mission is to prevent child marriage by providing an alternative to the girls and young women though education and vocational training. His message is a positive one in that he works with the parents of this minors by talking to them of the benefits of a formal education. Troy in an incredible humanitarian, a lawyer who graduated from UCLA (I forgive him) and was an Assistant DA in Los Angeles. He gave all of that up to dedicate his life to make social change in a society where the impact will be most noticeable. BACHAO has partnered with Speak UP for the Poor on many projects and continues to do so.

President Saiful Islam of BACHAO and his band of merry men and women of BACHAO put together a very successful show with Mitali Mukherjee who came straight from Mumbai as the lead artist. The dinner was sumptuous. I want to thank my fellow members of BACHAO from the ambassadors to the committee members, the volunteers, and all those who attended for making this an incredible event and highlighting the needs of the underprivileged in Bangladesh. Even though Omar Ishrak, the CEO of Medtronics was not able to attend due to a tough travel schedule, he threw down a $25K challenge. Those who attended were more than able to match it thus making this occasion one of the most successful fundraising events. Mega contributors such as Mr. Muhit Rahman and others were extremely generous.”
