No child marriages in the past year in one of the villages we serve!

Tremendous news! We are happy to report that in one of the villages in which our Girls Education Program has been operating, there were no child marriages at all throughout all of the past year! Another example of the effectiveness of the GEP in a context where girls are commonly given in early marriage before age 15. Child marriage prematurely ends a girl's education. It perpetuates poverty and gender inequality. And it exposes young girls to increased rates of maternal and infant mortality, and domestic violence. By preventing child marriages and helping girls to stay in school, we are creating a more just society for girls and women in Bangladesh.
