Learning Centers

We are in the process of building new Learning Centers, or refurbishing old ones, in each of the 30 villages where we work. Today we have finished building Learning Centers in 22 villages, including installing new fans and simple lighting in most locations. The girls are inspired and excited for the new Centers!

Five days a week, girls in the 5th through 9th grades in our Girls Education Program spend 2-4 hours in our Learning Centers, meeting with their tutors and doing their homework. Since most of their parents have a minimal education and cannot help much with homework, our LCs give girls a place to receive academic help as well as inspiration to stay in school. Girls in the 10th grade and higher grades receive a monthly stipend to pay for an outside tutor and girls in 5th through 9th grade are tutored by our staff teachers in the Learning Centers.

Several businesses and families have donated $750 to $1200 to build or retrofit a Learning Center with their logo or name on the side. Please let us know if you would like to sponsor a Learning Center in your business name.
